Just a quick note for FDNY listeners who missed the Signal 65-2 a few minutes ago, tonight (6/6/21) will be the Bronx turn to operate on the FDNY Citywide-2 started at 1800 hours.

Just listening to all the testing on the original Bronx frequency makes me wonder of just what they are up to.....!

Probably doing some good ol background static and interference elimination… ever since the FDNY got rid of their VHF frequencies… UHF sounds like complete garbage in areas of the city… and I’m talking about outdoors!! Let alone inside a building lobby or under a bridge

My guess is as follows. If the testing is on FDNY CW2 486.38125, these are both within TV RF CH 16 & 17 bandwidth . The input is likely 489.38125 TV17.

While I have not logged TV16 yet, I have logged RF TV 17 television stations. Philadelphia and Vineland New Jersey.

Band openings known as tropo can raise the noise floor when the openings occur.

I get TV 17 every day, even without band openings.

I suspect they are looking at this.

They're not testing on that CW2; they're testing on the borough frequency. They just move the companies from the borough frequency so they can test openly on it.
