Just to let everybody know, the newest NOAA Weather Radio site in Stillwater is now on the air. WNG-644, 162.500 MHz. There is still some testing going on, but it's basically normal programming. Coverage has yet to be determined, but is expected to cover Payne, Noble, and Pawnee counties, at a minimum.

Just received an email from Rick Smith, the WCM at the Norman FO. He indicates that it may be up and down for the next couple of days as they complete operational testing.

Yeah Mark thanks for posting that! I'm glad they did that. Now there is complete coverage from OKC to Stillwater to Ponca City. That's great! It will make for better reception when storm chasing in those areas.

Hopefully the site thats supposedly been in the works for awhile for Seminole will become reality. As I believe Seminole is dead and some of the surrounding counties could use better coverage.

It's funny,"Mr. Roboto" the voice of the NWS, apparently hasn't got all his programming straightened out yet. When it (he?) gives the callsign, it gets confused by the "WN" part of the call, so gives it as "WestNorth G 644".

Haven't heard anything about Seminole, sorry.

Here's a good site for the latest information on NOAA WeatherRadio:
http://www.weatherradio.info/ Note, this is not a NOAA/NWS government site, but somebody's "labor of love", as it were. I have no connection with the site or it's author, except as a happy user.

It's my understanding that Oklahoma wants complete statewide NWR coverage by 2006. Many of these new sites will probably come from corporate donations, and other private funding donations.

Moreover, I feel that everyone should have a weather radio with alerting capabilites in their home, place of business, and while camping. These radios can save your lives!
