• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

After having a G4 and using the desktop charger for a while I have a question about the 3 LEDs on the front of the charger. I can see the power indicator which is always on when the charger is plugged in, but what are the other 2 LEDs for? I cant seem to find what they are used for as they don’t blink or seem to activate when there is an alert which I would assume is what they’re for? I tried to look in the manual but there isn’t anything there mentioning it.

So the only LED that’s ever lit is the green power one, when the unit is plugged in a red LED is on on the pager till it’s fully charged and it turns green but that’s just on the pager it’s self not the charger. I don’t think I’ve ever seen any lights on the charger active when there’s an alert though that would be nice to show a missed call like my minitor charger does. Wish these things wern’t so cryptic at times haha

Why not give a quick call to the folks that sold you the unit. I got mine from Ray's Pagers and they were more than happy to answer any questions I've ever asked or help me troubleshoot any issues I've ever had with software. I have no doubt the other big names will treat you just as well.

The standard drop in charger only has one green LED on it show it's powered on.

The pager will show red on the left most LED until charged and then turns green.

Don't know about the amplified charger, since only have the basic one

I see what you meant by having three LEDs in the charger after taking a closer look at it.

The only one that has an icon above it is the middle one for power on.

Going forward I don't think the other two positions even have a LED under them. The case for the charger must have been manufactured with some extra stuff that didn't make into the production final charger.
