• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I wanted to do a quick poll if some of you would be so kind as to give me your opinions......

A few weeks ago when I acquired my G1 and programming stand it was my first time using the Unication PPS or G1 pager. I've been really impressed so far. Anytime I get a new piece of equipment one of the first things I do is dig into the software (if it's something I've never used before) and test / try out the various features of the pager or radio I'm programming.

I know that there is a programming guide out there from Unication but it's kind of vague & left with me more than a few questions on what different settings do, including the info in the "help" tab in the PPS itself when you click on the options and the info pops up on the right. My question is this........ I'm debating writing a detailed programming guide for the G1 pagers. The way I would write this manual would be to basically go tab by tab explaining what each function/option is. Example: Tab G1: Channel Parameter Setting - Explaining the channel parameter settings when entering frequency information, CTCSS / CDCSS (DPL), etc. Tab H: Receiving Portfolio Setting - How to set up and enable Zones, then under each channel / knob setting what options are there, how to set/assign custom voice files, and the best settings for Reset Mode, Delay Timer, & Record Delay Timer, etc. God knows the reset mode and timers stumped me LOL.

So if you folks would be so kind as to offer your opinion/ideas I'd appreciate it. If I do move forward with the project I'll do it in PDF format & would be happy to have it shared with whoever needs it. The only thing I ask is for credit for writing it. Let me know your thoughts!!

If you do make one I'd love to have a copy. I still have trouble figuring out the software.
