• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Are you all still having this issue? I am on 1.4, not 1.3. I don't have the PPS with me, but I remember running into this problem before. Is your site trunking box selected? My issue was I selected that box when I was in the program one time. I removed the check mark and it went back to normal. I remember reading this box is normally not supposed to be checked.

Update on the out of range problem I was having. I'm not sure what exactly happened but one day it was working great and the next it was not hardly picking up any signal. It appeared that it was somehow related to the 1.3 version upgrade since I had done that only a few days prior. I sent it in to Unication describing the issue as a sensitivity problem as the unit was still under warranty. They returned the unit with the explanation "internal antenna adjusted" and now the unit is working perfectly just as it did before. I'm not sure how this relates to the issue as I thought the internal antenna was for the VHF and the rubber duck was for 700-800. Irregardless, we're back to normal!

I have no idea. Not sure how it could unless you push something down in there on purpose. All they said was they adjusted the internal antenna.

I was searching the forums for this exact problem, I have multiple G5s and they will randomly go out of range when they have 3 or more bars. It has done it a few times with full bars, it does it a lot more with around 3 bars. At first I thought maybe it was my portable de sensing it, but I have been leaving the radio off and it still goes out of range and then comes right back. I am monitoring a simulcast 700 MHz system. It acts like maybe its checking for a stronger control ch from another site, but i dont have another site. Anything in the programming anyone could recommend I look at, maybe I missed something, I have only the 1 site programmed and its 4 possible control chs.

Thank you !!

are you near a Verizon tower? Their low band 700 stuff has ben known to cause interference on the G4/G5 units. I know of 2 places that i can drive near and full bars goes to out of range then back. Even though its receiving the system the error rate gets so high it looses lock and looks for a new site. At least thats a simple explanation.
