• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

From someone who uses the G4 and G5s for scanning. There's some stuff that can be imported and exported. That might help save some typing if you have a lot of talkgroups and frequencies for systems. It doesn't help with zones and alerting information.

Another option that may help your situation, if you're like me, and using both G4s and G5s, is using the G5 as the "master" for doing additions, updates, deletions, etc., then convert that profile to the G4, any VHF or UHF stuff that is in the G5 profile will be defaulted to a 700Mhz frequency. Obviously, the VHF and UHF stuff would not work in the G4, but it saves me having to update multiple code plugs.

BenScan, That is exactly what I’m doing as I set up a trial profile to test some things and now I’ve got a zone in a few Knobs that work great I wanna plug them into another profile. I do see import and export but I haven’t quite figured out how it seems like that sent it back to the memory on the PC when you try to export something so I’m still not sure how to do that but I’ll experiment a bit more I appreciate your advice.

Best way I find to do this, as well as bulk editing, is to export to a .csv file first. Make the changes you need to and then import the .csv file back into either the same, or a different profile. Be sure to check the box to delete old data so you don't end up with stuff you're trying to get rid of.

I ended up adding a couple new systems to my G5 today and it went pretty smooth. I only had to edit the first line of the TGID file to: Tone, None, and On. I then highlighted those 3 on that line, right click to copy, select all of the rows below, and then paste. Took care of 117 TGID's in about 10 seconds.

How can you export information in a format that can be copied to another code plug?
Here's an example/pointer for talkgroups. You don't necessarily have to edit the .csv files if you are just copying from one profile to another.1704283076158.png

Thank you, I didn't realize that exported/imported to csv file, that does make it easier.
