    The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

    For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello all! I'm currently demoing a G5 (Own a G1 and love it) and the G5 PPS was a bit of a learning curve at first, mostly setting up the scan lists, but I've since figure it out! Not a bad unit! It handles my P25 Conventional channels rather well! I just have a few questions! Not trying to be picky, just curious! I know on my G1, the screen shows the alert mode icons (Speaker for Tone, Dot with Squiggles for Vibrate, and so on) does the G5 not show/have that? Also the G1 show the "Zone/Knob/Channel Name Alias" is this also not on the G5? And lastly, why is the "Selective Call" Voice Prompt different from the others? Thank You!
