• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Wondering if anyone else is seeing error message 02144 on their G5 after using the PPS software to update programming profile. With this error message, the G5 stops receiving and launches some other inappropriate messages like "out of range." Requires a hard restart (turn the radio off, then back on) to solve the problem.

This is happening after each update to profile.

Perhaps the PPS software may not be clearing all of the old profile before installing the new profile.

And suggestions appreciated.

You'll be waiting a long time for an answer from Unication. I have two error code questions in to Unication Dave. It's been months. The standard answer is; "we have asked our engineers about this"
I wish you luck. What worked for me was to revert back to a much earlier FW as it clears the pager profile. The two newest FWs don't do that. Once cleared, reload your newer FW and then your profile being sure to use the software version that was released with the FW version.

This a guess, and only a guess. Which G5 do you have? VHF, UHF(which frequency range). I wonder if you have a frequency in there that the radio can't handle.

I haven't had that error, but I have one when I program my G5 in the software that says something about the Array Index being Out of Bounds. The G5 receives the programming successfully, but the software has a bug in it.

Thanks for your note, cpetraglia. Actually, the error message did say contact Unication directly and I did get a quick response suggesting the error message may be triggered by a communication error. So I am leaving the G5 connected to the computer for a longer period well after the radio completely reloads. However, that does not seem to be the problem.

Then that could go back to corrupt data or as they said "it may be a com error"
The reality is, they don't know. You'll learn to experiment and pretty much find out for your self as most all of us have. I would seriously try the FW idea I provided and as BenScan said, look through your profile and make sure there are no mistakes. Over all this is a great little radio. I have had some minor problems that I was able to get worked out.
