• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Morning guys,

Purchased my G5 used from the forum and the member was kind enough to program it for me.

NJSP NJICS for the Turnpike troops. 1 programmed for all three troops A/B/C, 2 is north B, 3 is central C and 4 is south A. Regardless of which channel I'm on it will randomly go out of range and back in range after 5-10 seconds. There are 11 RFFS? sites programmed in that cover the I-95 with the NJICS sites.

On my Uniden 436 I had the simulcasts for A/B/C programmed so it can scan through all of them and catch whatever transmission comes in first. The goal is for the same on the G5 which it's doing pretty much the same, but only going out of range is the only issue.

I can post screenshots later today of the programming screens. Is there anything that can be done to help it not go out of range? I assume it's doing that while switching sites, correct?

The G5 is on the latest firmware and this occurs with the stock blue band antenna and my NMO mount with a 700/800mhz Laird antenna

The sites programmed in from what I recall

west orange site 390 001/1
bordentown site 394 003/3
berlin site 394 004/4
union site 394 007/7
new brunswick site 390 008/8
Telegraph h site 397 023/17
meadowland site 399 025/19
martinsville site 39B 028/1c
cranbury site 39E 031/1f
str trailer site 390 037/25

hunderston site 392 002/2
cinnaminson site 39E 015/f

The pager won't switch sites to scan all of the sites unless it loses signal. So for the first part, your pager will stay on it's current tower unless it loses signal. Then it will go to the next strongest tower. So you can't scan like you do with a conventional scanner. Check the antenna and make sure it is tight. But not overtightened or it will damage the pin

Are you in close proximity to a cell site when it goes out of range?

I have not taken notice of them but I will when I'm on the move to work sat/Sunday. I drove from home to Philly just now and went out of range for ten seconds then back. I didn't have chance at the time to see which site it went to since the cat was vomiting (it's been on Berlin simulcast at home and on the road for the most part)

How do I access the RSSI? I look in the manual and where it's saying it is I can't find it at all on my G5

to get to the rssi display press menu and then scroll to diagnostics. I believe the diagnostics has to be enabled in the pps. I've noticed I start having issues with audio quality when i get in close proximity to cell sites.
