• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi All,

I have a G4 and recently just bought a G5 from Ray's Pagers arriving Thursday. I have two questions.

G5 - Can I use the saved G4 profile I have have in the PPS on the G5 or does it have to be separate? Im looking for a way to make it easier to copy all those TG's and settings over to the G5 without having to reinvent the wheel if you know what I mean.

System/Control Channel- Currently we can only put one system/CC into each channel slot on the dial (1-8 etc). Im not a beta tester but when beta version 1.4 is eventually released will that version allow the G4/5 to enter and follow more than one system/CC in the same slot? Like having a state system/cc in slot 1 and also a city system/CC in the same slot.

Thanks!

You will need a new profile for the G5, but you can clone your existing profile to create the new one. In PPS, on tab C2, use the "Convert New Model" button at the bottom.

The V1.4x firmware allows some form of scanning across systems. I don't have experience with it, so can't comment on exactly how it's setup. It's not obvious to me that the beta firmware will actually be released. There are hints at a Unication Scanner product in the future, but we don't have any detailed information about it yet (or at least I don't).

I am running the beta firmware, I have anywhere from 3 to 8 trunked systems running, you miss a few calls compared to my scanner mainly because of the time it takes to acquire the control channels, especially in Harris systems where any of the frequencies can be a control channel, it fairly easy to use your list can be setup in the PPS or thru the pager . But a few more tweaks would be nice
