If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Okay I'm beaten and turning to the community for help. Trying to add a new system to and existing G5 pager.

Have attempted to add it via RR Import and manually with the same results, the info goes in and I'm hearing everything fine, but it appears the radio is not recognizing it as a trunked system. A couple of issues, first in Diagnostics it does not show any info, just Protocol N/A, second on the home screen there is no T displayed next to the bars, and finally (may be unrelated) the voice announcements are not working on the new system, but are on the older systems.

Any suggestions or questions?

What system are you trying to program. For voice announcement. Do you mean channel announcement? You have to put that in on the knob position if that's what you mean. It doesn't do it automatically.

Regarding the protocol issue, and assuming the trunked system is P25, what do you have in the profile for this setting? It should look like this:

Try putting in FFF for all of the rssi and sys ID and site number ect... RR info is not always correct. Put all 4 CC's in also. Primary and 3 secondary. It's not always BEE00 also. Put fffff in for that too.

That is the correct info from UT2, DSD+ and Pro96Com, but I will try it, thanks for the suggestion.

FWIW I directly imported everything from here into my G5 without any issues.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions, I found the solution thanks to @w2lie at East Coast Pagers. I needed to update the firmware that was seriously out of date. This corrected both issues I was experiencing on the new system.

Good to hear that you solved your problem with a firmware update. That problem will, however, also arise with up-to-date firmware due to a glitch during programming. I just had it happen on a brand new G5. One solution is to export your programming, reset the radio, and then import your programming. What I did was to delete the channel, edit the "blank" channel (which won't actually be blank), change the settings to a normal conventional scan, save, and then change it back to TG scan. It seems that just deleting a channel is not enough because some of the information is retained. That's why a reset can be an easier solution.
