Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello all,

I have a couple questions about the G5 pager in some logistics of how to setup on a couple features that I'm wondering if they are available yet and also if they would be in the future with a Firmware Update, etc.

We got a handful a G5's this past year for paging and to monitor our 800 MHz trunked system for the fire department in lieu of purchasing expensive portable radios. We still do use our Minitor 5 pagers too which we are paged on VHF and use 800 MHz Trunked for communications.

Question I Have is I noticed if a pager unit is monitoring the 800 MHz side of our trunked radio system, and its not set to selective call, we mis the pages on VHF. Has Unication did a firmware update or plan to do one to allow for cross monitoring of VHF and 800 MHz so that way if a user is monitoring the 800 MHz trunked side they will still receive the tone alert?

Also my second question is our paging towers use different frequencies, is there a way of being able to setup multiple frequencies like the Minitor Pagers?

Thanks in advance!

You can only monitor what is selected in the knob position.
You cannot setup the pager to monitor both a conventional channel and a trunk radio talk group at the same time (in the same position on the dial).

If you system simulcasts the VHF paging on an 800 Talk Group, then you should be able to get paged on the talk group.

To clear things up, you can monitor VHF and 700/800 on the same scan list, but only if all frequencies are conventional.

Okay, thank you. No our 800 MHz is a Type 1 Trunked system and our VHF Paging is conventional paging on VHF. We don't simulcast the tones to 800 MHz.

I believe you mean 800 Mhz Phase 1.
Type 1 indicates older Motorola analog trunking that is no longer supported by motorola and not supported at all by Unication.
