If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

On some of my channels, my speaker status icon has a diagonal line through it and no sound output from the radio. I am assuming I have hit some button that I should not have. Can anyone tell me what is going on? I think a channel that was silent a few days ago is working now, but a couple of others that were quiet are still quiet.

Thanks in advance for any help someone can provide!

You are most likely correct! Thank you. Is that enabled through programming or is it a radio knob/button controlled? How do I disable it?

In the knob position programming, make sure that "Alert Mode" is set to "Tone" (*not* "Silent"), as well as "Push to Listen" set to "No".

Another possibility is that you're off-duty - there should be an icon that looks like a person at the top of the pager's screen. If the person is "filled in", you're on duty, but if it's just an outline, you're off-duty. You should be able to chance that in the Function Status menu (yellow circle button).

Did you verify that Alert Mode is set to "Tone" as N6ML suggested? That setting, as well as the "Push to listen" setting has to be verified for each Zone.

I did just figure out the sound does work when I press the side button. I double checked the programming and push to listen is disabled. Any suggestions?

Thanks, I will check that now again. I believe I checked it last night, but will double check it.

It's the checking each zone--for each knob position--that can make it a pain to verify. On some knob positions, I have 12 zones...

If that doesn't sort out the issue for you, I'm happy to look over your .unipps profile--I'm certainly wouldn't call myself an expert by any means, but I'm happy to help.

Good luck.

THANK YOU for your assistance. The problem has been resolved, the Alert Mode was set to Silent on a couple of zones. I corrected that and all works as it should.
