• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Programmed a trunked system into the G5 and I'm getting nothing. Now I have programmed this same system into 3 other G5's I have owned before so I know I just missed something. Did some searching before and found a box I might not have checked but that was a couple of months ago and I did not get the time to go in and try to find it. Now maybe it is this item I forgot or since I got this used maybe something the past owner checked and I just missed it. Any help what it might be?

There are lots of boxes and your post is really vague, I suggest you check the programming between the working 3 G5's and the non-working one. Perhaps rather than getting dozens of possibilities, which may result in no help and a lose of time you say you don't have to diagnosis the problem, just comparing the working code plug and non-working one is the better option.

Welcome to the RR forums. What box did you or previous owner forget to check? Specific info goes a long way if you're asking for assistance

I did a search before and found something that several people had told the other guy asking about to check and it worked for them. I have searched again and so far have not been able to find that post again. Do not think I have a backup of the code plug I used on the 3 other G5's because that computer died on me and I sold the pagers off. Was just hoping somebody would know what is common to miss when programming the G5. I've been doing some digging but coming up empty for now. I do not think what I found before was on this forum so not sure where it was. Thank you for any help, I'm not asking other to spend their time looking. And no I have not up dated the software in the G5 yet

When you say you're "getting nothing", exactly what's wrong? No audio? Not finding a control channel/out of range? No TGs popping up as active?

Posting screen shots so we could look, might be helpful. Also let us know what system you are looking at programming.

Sorry guys I thought I had the whole day yesterday to work out the G5 issues but a phone call changed that. Might be able to get back to it later tonight. One thing I needed to do was dpwnload the software since what I had was on the old computer and the new 4.0 is what is on the site now. Can I use that without doing a firmware update on the G5? Or should I find the old software? Kind of like to know it is working before I change too much like the firmware. Thank you
