Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have a VHF G5 that I configured for non-SAME weather alerting through the setting of a long 1050 Hz tone. Works very well for a portable weather alerting receiver.
Unfortunately, I have been unable to find a way to reset the decoder and mute the speaker without human intervention. I have tried all of the reset modes. Based on what I read, it would appear that the best selection would be "TIMEOUT RESET" which would seem to mute the speaker after whatever time is chosen. I have tried most or all of the other settings and most if not all depend on a drop in carrier which of course doesn't normally happen so the reset timers won't actually start.
My intention is to have the speaker mute 30 seconds after the pager alerts.
Looking for advice on successfully, automatically resetting the receiver speaker and the carrier is still present.

I'm guessing the pager is getting confused being there is never a break in the radio traffic from NOAA. Whereas a normal fire dispatch trips the pager, speaks and then releases the channel.

I have a couple of G5 pagers to program this weekend, I'll see if I can find a solution for you.

Thank you, that is exactly what is happening - radio is looking for a carrier to drop and it doesn't. Last night however, far fewer alerts (4 compared to 42 Wednesday night) I found that if I didn't reset the radio manually, it would do so after 10 minutes. I know there is a record time limit setting somewhere in the software and that it was set for ten minutes. I mistakenly believed that setting to be for total voice storage - not per selective call. On the traditional paging settings in the radio (all on ARMER) it works exactly as intended.

Let me know if you learn anything that may be helpful, I appreciate your interest.

Tab 8 - Pager Configuration Setting. Voice Storage Setting. It was set at the default of 10 minutes which corresponds to the 4 NOAA messages it alerted on on 5/12/22. I have changed it to 1 minute and believe that will get the desired operation. I had assumed that this setting was for all stored voice - not per message.

Will wait for the next weather event to see if it works as desired.

Finally had some weather alerts this afternoon. Changing the voice storage setting to 1 minute did not result in resetting of the radio, but merely stopped the voice storage after 10 minutes. The radio continued to audibly report the weather. No idea why it did reset the receiver when set for 10 minutes.
