• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hey gang,
I've been having difficulty trying to "fix" an issue with a local P25 system.
I thought I was getting somewhere, and after several unsuccessful reprogramming attempts, I'm now presented with this message "Unprogrammed Pager. Please use PPS to Program before using" , upon start up.
Also, I'm not seeing my model number in the model drop down menu. My model number is G5B67F-SXVXEN1401. WTH?
Any thoughts?

You should be able to read the pager before you program it. If you can do that, read and save that profile. Save the copy so that you have a backup of the original codeplug. Then use that codeplug to enter in your programming.

One other point to make sure - are you using the usb cable that CAME WITH the pager? If not, switch to the original cable. It has been noted that some USB cables are made for charging or powering devices but lack the connections for the RX/TX data lines needed to program the G series. So again, use the original cable if you aren't.

Did you turn the pager knob to the actual knob position you programmed? or is it sitting on an unprogrammed position? I did that the first time I changed things. "UNPROGRAMMED" what? ... oh, I had it knob on position 7 instead of the one I actually programmed stuff to (#1)

My model number is G5B67F-SXVXEN1401.

I think you left a digit out of the number above. If you have the 700/800 + VHF, it should be G5B67BFSXVXEN1401UNI. You left that "B" out.
This model comes up in the PPS. But again, read and use the codeplug that comes out of the pager.

Wow,
OK guys. I'm using the same cable I've been programming with for several months. After programming, the PPS notifies me that the programming was successful. Once the pager reboots, I get the message.

Just for giggles, I just reflashed the pager from the uniden website and that was successful.

Yes, you're correct! I did forget a letter in my model number and no, the model number is NOT available in my recently updated PPS. I'll check for the umpteenth time. My Model number is G5B67BFSXVXEN1401UNI.

G5B67BFSXVXEN1400UNI is the closest number. Note "1400" not "1401"

Actually, it's still kaput.
The reflash was successful, but the reprogram wasn't.
Interesting that the pager will allow the G5B67BFSXVXEN1400UNI program, albeit unsuccessfully.
Still have the same issue.
I'll try a few more things and keep y'all updated

When I use the import site feature (from RR database), I get the message and other interesting issues. Namely, I am not asked to use a password (which I have set up) to program with the PPS.
After deleting the imported site/system information, the download/pager behaved fine.
Also, after using the import, the screen timeout and screen brightness are changed.
I also tried importing the site/system but not assigning it to a knob position.
That also worked Ok. But as soon as I assigned it to a knob position, I get the same issue as before.
I'm stumped.
This all started because I seem to have lost my connection with the Washington State patrol sites.
My Uniden 436 is still hearing them (sporadically as usual), so I know they're out there.
I was receiving them just fine on the G5 as of a month ago or so, then nothing.
System ID 715 WACN BEE0A
King Simulcast RFSS 2 Site 1
I've entered all of the freq's for the site.
Thoughts?
