Gas Leak - broken gas main reported to be under the Raritan River. Numerous reports of gas odors and road closures in the Rt 27/River Rd area. County HAZMAT on scene.

New Brunswick FD was also operating on their side of the river. Boy did that cause for some excitement and headaches yesterday...
Here is a video of the leak under the river and the resulting "geyser". Whats crazy is that PSE&G has known about this gas line leaking since at least November, and at the time stated that it posed no threat, well I guess they have egg on their face now. I would assume that this gas line may have finally burst due to the constant freezing and thawing of the river that has occurred this winter, as it is completely visible (it sits on the bottom of the river but isn't really covered at all) during low tides during the summer.
