hello i have not heard any thing from the gaston site or the batesburg site in like 3 days now are they up gradeing something on the system i know that all traffic that was on that 2 sites there wher not simualcast are all on lexington sites such ast greenwood hwy patrol and orange burg any info on those sites i use gaston a lot sense iam only 5 miles from it and i thought lexington was for lexington traffic only hmm hope cause it dose not cause a gram i am sure it dose for batesburg ems and fire probley cant here the calls over lexington sense its like 15 -20 miles away or more any in fo

hey jamie, its matthew, I have no idea on this though, i mainly listen to palmetto,killian, and harbison tower sites......keep us updated though if they come back....catch you on 2m l8er!

There was a discussion about this last week. It seems that the Batesburg, Lexington and Gaston have been combined into a single, simulcast system. Instead of 3 separate sites, they are now all the same site (sharing voice freqs and control channel) transmitting from three locations.
It's now known as Cell 20, and it's using 860.2625 as a control channel.

so what u saying not more batesburg site or gaston that sounds dumb to me cause i really cant pick up lexington cite that well i am like 10 miles from it and 15 from down town columbia for the palmetto so u telling me that all the traffic on lexington cite now so if i was in gaston or batesburg i am still be coming off the lexington tower not batesburg or gaston then if thats the case id be in trouble if i am in gaston and could not reach lexington cite

Well, not exactly.
What I'm saying is that the Batesburg and Gaston cells have been combined with the Lexington cell. All three sites are still transmitting from the same location, but they are all using the same voice and CC frequencies, and thus they're all carrying the same traffic.
Coverage is still the same, but you need to use 860.2625 as the control channel frequency instead of those for the "old" Gaston and Batesburg sites.

Think of the new Lexington site as one with a really high tower, powerful transmitters and fancy antenna. It now covers a much larger area than it did before, to include those areas that were covered by Cells 3 Gaston and 14 Batesburg. And they added some channels to Cell 20 too, including some of the frequencies that had been used by Cells 3 and 14.
I believe that the database here on RR has been updated to reflect the changes. If not, it will be updated shortly.

yes, it was updated today, and the ambulance talk groups i was looking for were all added today as well!
i see now so they increase power and all that but i notice that i can receive it better it was really staticey before but i notice that it sounds like when i sit my scanner in a good spot to listen to it it sounds like i am driving down the road it has a flutter sound in it i have noticed that on other sites befoer 1 time near the beach if u not up under and get a distance from it sounds like it flutters even tho i am not moving it i have heard that sound before when the weather conditions would be good i could hear sites like in florence and charleston off a rubber duck weird hu dont hear it to much but when it happens its ounds like that but i am 8 miles south from downtown lexington so wander what i could do to make the flutter stop i use the 800 mhz ant. from radio shaack rubber duck u get what i mean not a scanner problem i know scanneri have had a pro 94 and heard that on distance cites
