This new site popped up this past week. It is simulcast so it is not a filler site. It's also got long arms with usable coverage from the Domain (west) to Manor (east) and Round Rock (north) to Riverside drive (south) in Austin.

Signal strength survey suggests Pflugerville but that's just a guess. Since this is simulcast, it is possible more simulcast tower sites will come online.

This might be the new "Simulcast 2".

Except for a one-off login, there is no activity (yet) on this site.

Please keep an eye on this. If anyone knows the actual tower sites, please share.

Don't rule out the possibility of the subsites having directional antennas, so they may not be where you think they are.

Site 001-007's coverage area has grown. Hope to run a survey this weekend.

Now for the *very* speculative part. Will this new simulcast layer offer TDMA?

The control channel for Site 001-007 alternates between 851.1375 and 851.3875 every ten minutes.

Are they even talking off this tower? I don't think I've heard anything. It still could be some sort of test site or temporary with no licensed location.

It's using the defunct simulcast 2 frequencies. The weird thing is it announces 851.2875 as one of its alternates. I had to modify Unitrunker to skip over that channel on site 7 so it would chase the control channel properly.

I've seen some emergency button activations, "E" calls, and some logins, join, logouts. Here's the last 24 hours.

I've omitted a ton of denials where radios attempting to roam onto the site are rejected.

@Robert - yes, they are. Not monitoring site 7 full time right now. Call volume is not zero but very very low. Will let it run for a few days and post the results. FWIW - no evidence of TDMA.

Hmm..the CC rolls if a site/subsite link is lost. I wonder if they have a bouncing subsite?

Site 1 correctly reports the roll-over for site 7. Rolls every FIVE minutes. 4 minutes on .1375 and 1 minute on .3875

60 seconds is the default time for an ASTRO 25 system to remain on one of the alternate control channels after a roll. If the condition that caused the roll clears within that 60 second period, the site will roll back to the 'most preferred' control channel.
