I was on vacation recently and found these in a “fleatique” store. Everything looked to be in order, the box is in excellent condition, and it even has a pair of manuals inside. I don’t think they were ever used.
I decided to try them out. Each one uses 8 AA batteries. The antennas, when extended, are about 5 feet long. They only operate on channel 11. There was a lot of stupid chatter on the night we tried testing them, and since they have no squelch capability, it made it very difficult for us to hear each other. The very best we could do and still understand each other was about 1500’ apart. It’s cool that they still work, but it would be much cooler if we could use them a little bit better.
