Dreamed for years of owning a Geochron, but could not justify the expense. Bought a Geochron Digital 2 when they came out. LOVE it!

If there an option to switch map modes to center on EurAsia instead of the Western hemisphere?

It scrolls, just happens to be on the western hemisphere when pic was taken. I don't recall seeing an option to lock the position of the map.

I did not see an option for that either. What would be nice is the possibility to zoom in on any region of interest

That would be nice, I had thought of similar function.

The little box (computer) is pretty taxed as it is, I don't think it has the horsepower needed to handle the graphics. I doubt the map has any information to zoom in to, it's likely has exactly the info you see on screen and nothing more.

I sold my geochron a few months ago and replaced it with a raspberry pi running hamclock.

Does it have a 4K resolution ?

Not sure what the resolution is. Looks good on the HD TV I running it on. While it's similar, it's very different.
