Depends there are 3 agency's under the GA's Department of Public Safety. There is the Georgia State Patrol, Capitol Police, and Motor Carrier Compliance. The GSP operates on a Base/Mobile System VHF System except for in Atlanta where they use the Atlanta's trunked system, The VHF frequency is 154.680 for the base and 154.800 as the mobile, now being that it's a Base/Mobile and not a repeated system, that means that you will probably only here dispatch unless you are close to a unit that is transmitting. Now the Capitol Police operate soley on the Atlanta trunked system and looks like Motor Carrier Compliance operates on VHF at least in Atlanta not much info on them.

BTW here is the page for the GSP http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?aid=816

Motor Carrier

i have a buddy that works for GSp but is assiged to the Motor Carrier Div. he told me that Motor Carrier actually has little radio traffic. Alot of Nextel usage between the guys working a certain area but not much radio traffic like you would hear from regular GSP.

The Motor Carrier Compliance Division of DPS operates on the same frequency as all GSP field post. The Atlanta radio room serves Atlanta area officers, all other MCCD go through the local field post.

Can you tell us what the HOV Police talkgroup is on the Atlanta system? Also, this morning enroute to work, I noticed the antenna array on one of those HOV police units - this one had a VHF high-band antenna on the rear fender, a VHF high-band antenna in the center of the trunk, and a UHF quarterwave antenna in the center of the trunk. Anybody have any idea on what UHF frequency they might be using?

The UHF is probably a pac-rat radio. If they are on Atlanta's TRS, it's probably a non-used antenna. One of the VHF antenna's is probably for their video microphones.
