My pager just went off telling me that the Burn Ban has been lifted for all counties east of I-35. Time to get ready for a busy weekend. Plug in those fire freq's you usually don't monitor and listen away.

Come on Matt don't you think you are being a little too melodramatic? I mean we have had some good rains and more is forcast to be on the way. The vegitation is green and healthy. It almost sounds like you guys are bord and are looking for a fire to put out?

In Oregon, back yard burning has been reduced because of tards burning everything from tires to their own homes and also their neighbors fence.

In my city there's a 50 foot clear radius that's necessary before burning.

I already have made to non-emergency 911 calls regarding illegal burns with unkown materials (rubber/plastic or ???).

Oklahoma folks, watchout for those damn meth labs going up too.

No. No one around here is bored to my knowledge. We've had plenty of other shenanigans to deal with besides grass fires. I personally hope that my pager never goes off again.

My post was only to put a radio related spin on an annoucement in relation to the burn ban being lifted.

Also, ever heard of the KBDI? 1-hour dead fuel moisture? How about relative greenness?

I would suggest doing a google search for some Oklahoma Mesonet data, particularly the fire danger model. Then look at all of the available information. Although things did green up around here, we still have some very dangerous condtions present.

If you'll recall, it was a lifted burn ban that bit us all in the proverbial butt this last go round.

I'm not bored and looking for something to do. On the contrary, I just don't want another one of my 4-day weekends ruined.

I heard a fire department say that the burn ban for Stephens county has been lifted today, and im sure there will be another fire started around here somewhere.

FWIW, I agree with 2-B... not only is it too soon to be lifting the burn ban based on the physical data and forecasts, the mere lifting of the ban means that everyone in the state'll be burning this weekend... and we know how that tends to go.

I was kind of enjoying smelling some clean rain-washed air around here after breathing smoke for months. Now all these hillbillies that have been piling all their garbage up so they won't have to pay someone to haul it off are going to be setting all that ablaze. It's not going to smell pretty.

That's my point exactly, and how much rain did we have today? So basically in the news today there was the flooding in our area and the burn pile that was out of control in yours. All within how many miles of each other?
