the Hurricane Net just put out a frantic message for Yucatan Peninsula...

"Watches and Warnings are now effective for the Yucatan Peninsula"

i'm no meteorologist, but i DO see a high coming down the Rockies in the next day or so, and that might just be what is affecting the current prognostications that Ivan hit Florida or the American Southeast:

still, i never thought it would even get to the Yucatan by this point!

Shouldn't have been frantic... The threat to the Yucatan has been known for days (expect for possibly the mets at NHC.)

it was frantic.

perhaps the franticism was a direct result of some brainiacs trying to contact Net Control who were out sailing in a boat.

all sorts of people LOVE to contact Hurricane Net Control even though they are not "in the affected area".
