So sadly enough I sold my pro-97 about 6 months ago. I now regreting it, and I knew I would. I want to get back into scanning. So what scanner can you guys recommend these days? Has everyone gone to digital or are most still trunking? My cousin is a manager for ICOM and can get me a deal on their stuff. Any ICOM products you can recommend? Thanks alot!

I'm going to purchase the Uniden 396, although this might belong in the general scanning post rather than a Wa state question. I'm going to purchase the 396 simply because it will do 700mhz and digital which being close to Idaho and any other systems that might be upgraded, plus Uniden seems to have the software support as well. I would get one that trunks rather than just a wide band reciever unless you can afford both.

I went with the 396 as well. It packs a punch for it's size, but most importantly it does 700mhz and digital. I read somewhere that the FCC wants all states to have some kind of interop system for neighboring states and I know Idaho, montana, utah already are setup or setting up a 700mhz digital system. Besides, being in the spokane area Post Falls has an APCO channel and Sandpoint Sheriff have a 400mhz APCO system(conventional) going. The 996 would be good too if you want a base/mobile.
