Hi,

Thanks for previous help.
Have a HomePatrol-1
Sr. Citizen now, and due to medical problems haven't used scanner for quite a while.
Whatever I learned about the usage, is pretty well forgotten by now.
Would like to get back into the hobby.

I downloaded and installed the latest vers. of Sentinel on my pc, Running W10
I think it is called 2.03 ?

Then did the Firmware update after connecting the HP-1 to the pc with a USB.
Seems to have worked. Quite proud of myself.

So, now what should I do ?

I guess the software database in the unit (stored on the micro SD ?) should also be updated.
Can't figure out how to do this, though.

If anyone could, very specifically, walk me thru what I should do next would be most appreciative.
(don't want to lose all my Favorites, and what I have programmed in from years ago, though)

BTW: anything else to do after this software update ?

And,

-- what do I press on the unit, where, to see the latest Firmware, Software, etc. that the unit is
actually using ?

-- with the unit plugged in all the time to AC, what are the batteries actually used for ?

Much thanks, really appreciate the help,
Bob

In case you have lost the owner's manual for the HP-1, you can download another one here:

http://info.uniden.com/twiki/pub/HomePatrol/WebHome/HomePatrol_OM_V2.pdf

The procedures for updating both the database and the firmware are detailed on page 6 of the manual.

To see the current versions that are in your scanner....

From the main screen on the Home Patrol, select MENU --> ADVANCED MENU --> scroll down arrow --> VERSION INFORMATION

.

Updating the frequency database is right next to the option for the firmware.

Once you update, you need to copy to the scanner.

That will get you working for zip code operation.

Recommend you then learn the favorites list operations to scan exactly what you want.
