BCD396XT using FreeSCAN

Trying to find the answers using the 'Easier to Read BCD396T' but my brain is starting to hurt.

1) How do I scan all groups in a system and just that system? Right now I can press 2 through 9 to shut off the other systems. Has to be an easier way, I just want to scan my first system (my hometown) sometimes and nothing else. :) I hit HOLD but that only holds one freq.

2) I set the first system/group to my hometown, do I set priority or close call if I want to jump when that system/group is active?

2) In FreeScan can you move the systems on the left tree around? I have View --> Sort By --> Unsorted but I can't move them around.

1) Push HOLD on the system you want for about 5 seconds to turn on system hold mode.

2) Not sure what you mean, close call is unrelated to those things.

2) No there is not. The systems often end up in random order on the scanner anyways so its not really considered worth it.

Ok, that works great!!

At night I just want to scan my local town, so I push HOLD to turn on the system hold. I just wish there was a quicker way to get to it. Right now I press FUNC and scroll back to the first system, then press HOLD for 5 secs to HOLD the entire system. Of course if you don't do it fast enough, you have to hit FUNC again.

Also, noticing that unless you assign a quick key for the groups in FreeSCAN, the groups do not transfer over??

For most systems you can just hit the Hold button while it is scanning if you have quick reflexes. As long as you begin to push Hold while the system name is still on the screen you are good. As for the groups, it should transfer over quick key or not, not sure what you are seeing??

More noob questions:

Ok, this is what I'm seeing:

S0: 12345678**
GRP:1-------------

So first issue, everytime I upload any changes back to the scanner 9, 10, 11 and 12 are '*' so I have to hit 9, then '. 10', ".11" etc to turn these on everytime. What setting in FreeScan toggles these on/off?

Solution: Tools --> System Quick Key Manager some boxes were checked some were not so now all systems are active.

Issue 1B, now I want to hold '1' and turn on the scanner so just system 1 loads.

Second, what I was trying to do with the closecall/priority is anytime there is chatter on system1 jump immediately there. (system1 being my local PD/FD)

When you upload, check to make sure "Send System Quick Key Status" is selected. It will set it to whatever you set in the System Quick Key Editor. For that other question, just mark the channels you are interested in as priority, then turn on priority mode. Check out the owners manual for more info on how to operate your scanner.
