was monitoring the sheriffs dept this weekend and noticed that they were using digital on their main channel, apparently one of the cars didn't have an 800 in it for car to car and so they used thier the main channel but it was digital for car to car. just that unit. one of the units asked them why not use channel 6, and he said that six doesn't have the range cause there is no repeater, makes sense, the 800 radio has enough range for the whole county, were i guess channel 6 doesn't have more than 5 miles or so? anyhow, thought you all would like to know we do have digiatal now.

Which channel was that - 155.68500 or 155.98500?

I'm headed up that way this October to visit family, and I'll program that in. I left it out figuring they were still on the 800. BTW what's the latest about going back to VHF?

Any other interesting radio monitoring news going on?

155.685, 155.985 is just for local police and fire in the county, sometimes, used by S.o. if they clear the main channel. sounds like they are going to stay with the 800 for car to car and get the new digital radios for interop with city of grand forks, sounds like they may stay 800 too and use the new radios for special stuff, i know they added one or two new freqs to the old license. like i said they like the county wide coverage they get for car to car on the 800 vs. ch 6. plus they can be yaking away and heare the main radio.

I'm in OKC but I like trying to figure this stuff out. Since channel 6 is probably car-to-car, it's possibly a talkaround for Ch 5 dispatch. But the license also has a few other freqs on it that may be worth plugging in. KAD798 lists 155.430, 155.505, and 458.525. Also the license at http://www.radioreference.com/modules.php?name=RR&action=fcc&cs=KAB623 has quite a few freqs on it as well. Hope you all figure it out.

And the reason this didn't make it into the database (to avoid this discussion) is....
