Here is the wrap up. The LAPD airship was concerned that they wouldnt be able to follow the suspect due to low fog if he was able to get out of the cemetery. Once GPD went to encrypted on the Tac channel, I called it a night.

Glendale cops shoot, wound gunman

GLENDALE - Police today shot and wounded a gunman at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Glendale, ending a standoff of nearly three hours with a possible suspect in the slaying of a Los Angeles woman hours earlier, authorities said.

Glendale police responded to a shots-fired call near Forest Lawn around 9:45 p.m. yesterday and were met with gunfire near the park's entrance, Glendale police Sgt. Tom Lorentz said.

"The two officers weren't sure where the shots were coming from," so they called for backup, Lorentz said.

While waiting for assistance, the officers were told by Forest Lawn security about a "suspicious black SUV" that had entered the cemetery grounds, he said.

A short time later, police located the vehicle inside the park in an area that straddles the Glendale-Los Angeles border, so Los Angeles Police Department officers were summoned to the scene, Lorentz said.

While trying to make contact with the man inside the SUV, officers determined he was armed with either a rifle or shotgun, he said.

The suspect began threatening to shoot officers on the ground as well as the police helicopter circling overhead, Lorentz said.

During the standoff, one of the man's relative showed up -- the suspect had apparently called the relative on a cell phone while he was inside the SUV, he said.

Glendale police hostage negotiators arrived and talked to the suspect over a cell phone while inside an armored police vehicle, but he just kept making threats and pointed his weapon toward the officers, Lorentz said.

While attempting to negotiate with the suspect, police learned that the gunman may have been involved in a shooting in which a woman was killed near a Los Angeles area bowling alley sometime last night, Lorentz said.

Hours into the standoff, the man drove the SUV down a hill toward police officers, including a canine unit, he said, adding that police responded with gunfire, disabling the vehicle and striking the victim.

The gunman eventually stepped out of the SUV and was taken into custody by Glendale police around 12:40 a.m., he said, adding that his weapon was also recovered.

The suspect, whose name was not immediately released, was taken to a hospital by paramedics. His condition was not immediately reported.

No officers were hurt during the standoff, Lorenz said.

Following the standoff, Los Angeles police continued to investigate whether the gunman was involved in a homicide last night, a sergeant from the LAPD's Northeast Station said.

Shortly before 8 p.m. yesterday, a Los Angeles woman was shot multiple times in a bowling alley parking lot at 4645 Venice Blvd. in the Mid-City area, said Lt. Victor Davalos of the LAPD's Wilshire Station.

The woman, whose identity was not immediately released, was taken to a hospital, where she later died, he said.
