In Saturday's daily gazette Glenville P.D. discusses plans on going digital with Schenectady County considering upgrading there communications system also. In the next couple of weeks the department is about to solicet proposals. The department also want's to add two more towers. The new system would have a touch screen that would allow dispatchers to toggle between different frequencies and to see calls being dispatched to other departments like Schenectady and Albany in real time. Also the new equipment would be run completely on computers. They said the town is going to choose from two companies that are state contract for communications equipment , Maxcom & Motorola.

An interview with a department spokesman on WTEN revealed that they want digital capability in an effort to upgrade in the future (or something to that effect). The system has seemed to be lacking quite a bit in my recent memory.

There is already a regional CAD system in operation, so GPD could see calls in other jurisdictions in real time if they signed on.

They said their current system does not have "computer aided dispatch", which shows an address and a map on the screen when a call comes into the center. The county does have this system for 911 and Glenville uses that in it's dispatch center.

P.S. (Sorry for your loss Dave , we will keep you in prayers)
