Heh, Bucks might not be using encryption on normal channels, but it certainly isn't "clear" lol

I think it's Wireless Communications because Tactical Public Safety deals with Harris systems and the Gloucester County and Camden County systems are Motorola. Tactical is the vendor for Atlantic County,

Got a chance to monitor the system again this morning from Tinicum and only picked up encrypted activity on TG 307. Other than that the system was pretty quiet.

As for Clayton PD, I believe they are still on UHF Zone 4. The only zones I haven't picked up anything on recently are 5, 6, 8, and 9.

Clayton PD is still on analog. 305, 307, 310 are the encryted TGIDs i would expect you to see at this point. Its a slow Sunday morning so you may not have caught them all yet.

Thank you for the info. Still can't hear Clayton one day last week they called zone 4 I guess on the phone saying they needed help with an accident. Then Zone 4 dispatched another town to help.

Glassboro PD

Looks (sounds) like Glassboro has switched to the 700 MHz system. Yesterday, while listening to the old freq, a unit called county, and county responded with something about the "old radio". Another one bites the dust...

Wow this really stinks!! Why couldn't Camden Co and Gloucester Co do what Bucks Co did?? What's the point in even having a scanner anymore?

Pressure from police chiefs most likely to have a secure system. They tried to lobby for it in Bucks but were denied as the county sees having an open system as a valuable resource. The real reason for the encryption is likely to cover things up and control what the media reports on from the towns. They can also easily say something like "a subject waving around a firearm" was nothing more than a "civil disturbance" call and not have anyone dispute it (other than eyewitnesses on scene).

Best bet to reverse the encryption would be to gather signatures from the community in a petition to the system administrators that dispatch talkgroups be broadcast in the clear for the benefit of the community at large. Not the easiest thing to do but at the same time it would be well worth a try.

Back on topic, any other talkgroups pop up on the system? Sounds logical Glassboro would be the next to switch over as they are on a channel by themselves.

Thank you for all that information sure will miss listening to Gloucester Co. Scanning was fun guess I'm gonna have to give that up and not spend so much money on a scanner that's worthless.
