It seems to me that many of the EMS squads in Gloucester County are being dispatched with new ID numbers. Is this because they have finally joined together as one entity? I have heard talk of that in the near future. Also, does anyone know which numbers correspond with what area?

I don't have any id list as of yet. The new id's are part of the 'regionalized' ems system. Some townships didn't opt in, but basically there are new squads that are paid and instead of so and so handles this town, its broken down into more practical regions. The new rigs are lettered Gloucester County Ambulance. I know there was supposed to be one stationed in Logan Township, one somewhere near Clayton or Glassboro, and several others. This system just went into effect the beginning of the past week. It has been in the works for quite some time, and hopefully if it all works out, the response times will be much better now.

How is this "regionalized" system funded? Do the participating municipalities contribute some of the funding with a county match, or is it strictly funding from the municipalities?

Either way, should be pretty interesting to see how it works out, knowing New Jersey's long history of parochialism and home rule/local control (not just in the public safety field, but in other areas out municipal services).

Incidentially, Gloucester County EMS units are 82xx (8255 ran mutual aid on a job in Woodbury City; I'm going to guess that it was out of the West Deptford Station).

This is great! I am glad that someone is taking a step in the right direction to start fixing EMS in NJ. Do you know if there are paid people on or is it just volunteer? thanks

They are paid. Not sure how the funding is working, but they are employees of the County of Gloucester.

They are still accepting volunteers to supplement the paid staff on special details, shift coverage, etc., but it is almost fully staffed by paid personnel.

Follow-up from others in the know:

The units should be Stations 821-829. Other than that, the info is the same.
