Gloucester Township primary dispatch 506.8875 has had some data or digital transmissions and Primary dispatch seems to have been moved to the secondary channel 506.9375. It is not a constant data stream have heard it a few times today. Any information?

Thanks, I did hear that and assumed it was some sort of encryption after hearing it a few times without reports of poor transmissions. I was unable to record what I heard however but it was more data sounding, I am sure it is some sort of data, as it sounds exactly like a fax or modem, It was more surprising that it was now on the primary channel, which has been silent of any voice transmissions

Sounds like as of today GTPD switched to full-time encryption on primary dispatch. Anybody hear if they are goings to the country 700 system or are they staying with t- band?

Picking up a 192 NAC on the 506.8875 frequency. Not able to decode very well in my house on my Pro 106 but getting lots of P25 static on my Pro 2055. Some transmissions appear to be in the clear but again I can't decode them very well (about 2 bars on the 106).

P25 Trunked??? That would be a waste of money and time. GTPD are the only ones who use that system, they have four frequencies that make up two channels. What would be the point of turning that system into a trunking system?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (BlackBerry; U; BlackBerry 9930; en-US) AppleWebKit/534.11+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/7.1.0.402 Mobile Safari/534.11+)

Yep, I have to call 'BS' on this one as well. With FD & EMS already dispatched & operating with county, there's no precedent for them to even attempt this (they're no Cherry Hill - there's no where near the volume of traffic to justify it).

Never mind the fact that there is no way it could be built in the UHF-T spectrum (thanks to the D-block mandate from the FCC).

You can call BS all you want. They are not joining the county system. They arent even moving off the 500 band to go to the public safety band. Yea, they're going to have to move eventually, but they insist on doing it their way. Must be nice to have grant money to waste...

Trust me - it's going to happen (P25 digital trunk - on their own)...

I'm not going to tell you my source, but there are some around here that know where I get my info...

Well who ever thought going trunked is a good idea should be fired. I still say waste of time and money. If they do change to trunk that means more towers and controllers. They already going to have to deal with the interoperability with the new county system. GTPD just purchased new XTS5000 which will not work on the county system. And on that note lets not get me started on the new Camden county system, that is a BIG waste of money. Why is it public safety never follows the KISS principal. LA,NYC don't have these type of systems and they work, why is it we have to spend millions on a system we don't need. If you look at it we are a simplex system now on the fire side, and people are fighting for simplex channels on the new system which is smart. So that means my tax money is going for new radios on different frequencies to do the same thing as we have now. Sorry to get off topic. Thus ends the sermon lol.

NYC is a freak of comms nature. They only whip out the check book about every 25 years. Primary FDNY dispatch are still on 30+ year old VHF duplex bases, and there's some NYPD DB teams still running around with Saber III's. :D

On topic though...Can you at least reveal any information from your source about whether this supposed change would be locally tax funded or some type of grant? Would seem even stupid if there wasn't some kind of grant money edging it along.

I'm pretty sure there is grant money involved, but they still have the "my island" mentality going along with it. As far as when, I dont have a timeline.

Some Motorola sales person has really put on a good dog and pony show for someone over there in Gloucester twp. Another classic example of public officials spending tax dollars (grant money is tax dollars too!) on something they know nothing about. Their new setup in use now is working excellent, they should stick with it. I can hear them much better than when they were on analog over here in Medford. I wonder why they didn't aquire dual band APX radios so when the new Camco system is up and running they would be able to communicate with other towns around them. That would make too much sense I suppose.

All Discussion aside... They are back on GTPD 2 analog unencrypted.
