• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

GMRS repeaters are not open like a ham repeater, where all you need is your ticket. GMRS repeaters are privately owned, & you should contact the repeater owner before assuming its open to the public. In my case, the owner of a GMRS repeater whose also a ham invited me to use his GMRS repeater. The other option is to put up your own GMRS repeater.
Not all ham repeaters are open.

I own the Fort Pierce 575 repeater. It's offline as we lost our site on North Hutchinson Island, but we have a new site in Fort Pierce. We'll have good coverage down into Port St. Lucie.

It'll also be linked to the myGMRS Network. myGMRS.com Network

We have a weekly national net and we live stream it to YouTube: myGMRS

ETA for installation is a few weeks. Just waiting on the new equipment to arrive and a climber for the antenna.

Just following up that the Fort Pierce repeater was put online a few weeks back and has killer coverage. The furthest weak contact was Delray Beach at 67 miles away, with Jupiter being pretty much full quieting at 36 miles. No idea about coverage to the North, yet.

I'll give it a listen from the area of exit 156 off I-95.

Rich, I will be heading up to Orlando from Ft. Lauderdale soon. I could coordinate with you to help with Northern coverage testing if you'd like.

Bob Dye (N4PSK/WQYG969) has two GMRS repeaters up and running. One is the 462.600/467.600 (141.3) in Hobe Sound,FL and the other is 462.675/467.675 (141.3) in West Palm Beach,FL. He just asks you send him an e-mail that you want to use it so he knows. You can find his email on QRZ under his ham radio callsign.

I find usagmrs.com's repeater listings to be more out of date than mygmrs. A great many that are in use in my area - for years - are on the mygmrs site, not the first. I know they're active but not listed on usagmrs for some reason.
