• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

What an endless circle of blah blah blah

Tramacop, a GMRS license is $80 for 5 years like I said. I have no idea where you're getting your $16 figure from. Ask anybody.

Quoting anything from the popularbrainless site is an excercise in fecklessness, sorry.

The sticklers-for-the-rules types need to go to kmart and buy some chill pills. Ya'll persistently refuse to observe and except REALITY.

5 years at $16 a year is $80.

(I know some people are challenged by math, others are challenged to follow a conversation.)

And some both!

Truly you speak Jay,

Some folks do have problems following a conversation.

In my first post I plainly stated 80 for 5

What's any further point of dividing that by 5? You can't obtain a 1 year license.

He was comparing it to other costs and showing how small an amount it was.

I guess you missed the point.

Receiver, that is $16/year.

You probably spend more getting your ReceiverBeaver trimmed. :)

Well if the other guy is suggesting that going over to wallymart and buying a pair of handhelds for 25 bucks and then sending the FCC 80 is a "low cost", well I reckon the fella is entitled to his opinion. My intimation of buying and local low power talkin' without paying Sammy for the worthless license.....now there's your low cost.

There ! I got in the LAST WORD, uselessly increasing my post count, seeking to quickly overtake your effort at uselessly increasing your post count....I'm almost there....I'm almost there.....wait for it......wait for it......ah sucks NJay, you're at 4,703. I have no hope :-(

1. You have to look at investments in perspective, thus the 16 bucks or so a year. As will all investments, its good to amoritize them. For some of us, its an extremely good deal.

2. Opinions are like a$$^&&*....everyone has one.

It seems there is no changing your opinion, that is fine. But some of us use real equipment with our GMRS licenses; I can honestly say I've never even owned a little "bubble-pack" radio.....and I try as hard as I can NOT to shop at Wal-Mart. So having the license to use the service for what it was intended for is not bad at all. My GMRS repeater(s) work much better than many of the local hammy equipment, and are significantly busier!

Perspective, my friend.
