Not much that I'm aware of (apart from the usual bubble-pack use). I seem to remember there was once a GMRS repeater in Indy but I'm not sure if it's still there - I haven't seen it documented anywhere so I assume it was private (if anyone has information about GMRS repeaters in the area I'd love to hear). For MURS, I'm not aware of anything, although I know there are a few businesses at least on the south side that use 154.57 and 154.60.

Do you know if any of these repeaters are open (i.e. available for any licensed GMRS users)?

In order to use the repeaters you need to be licensed and hold a vaild GMRS License and you need to have permision from the repeater owner to use the repeater.

Do you know the owners contact details for these repeaters? I haven't seen them on any of the gmrs databases. I have a GMRS license, and it would be nice to be able to use the repeaters

Thanks

Frs/gmrs

I have no idea who owns the repeaters. I have all 14 FRS and all GMRS frequencies loaded into my
Yaesu -8900 for monitoring. There is tons of repeater traffic in the Indy area. I hear it daily. Most of the repeaters come in at least half scale at my house. I have looked at several GMRS websites that list repeaters, and almost all of them have nothing listed for the whole state. I don't have a license for GMRS and have no need to identify the repeaters, but I do enjoy monitoring. There has been alot of keying up on the repeaters with no audio today so I would guess someone is reading the forums and is trying to bring up the repeaters by going through the PL tones. Hope this helps.

they should (the owners) be listed in the FCC database, do a search using the frequencies above.

Then why does the web page say this
"It has always been the intent of I.C.E. to provide high profile Amateur Repeater Systems in the central Indiana area at no cost to its users for many years within the rules and regulations of good amateur radio operation. Although dues are not required, but if you are a regular user of one or more of our repeaters, donations are accepted to help with the ongoing maintenance and upgrading of these high profile coverage repeaters to insure their continuing operation."

My reading of that is saying if you donate, you can use any or all of them. I guess the best way is for the original poster to contact them for the exact, correct information.

Newsalan,You seem to know it all although you do not have idea of what is going on in the first place. Here is what is up with the 462.550 Repeater.I would not have"The poster contact them as the Repeater owner has told other people in the past "No" If you make a donation to the ICE group this will allow you to use the Ham Repeaters only if you hold s valid Ham radio License call sign.THIS DOES NOT ALLOW YOU TO USE THE 462.550 REPEATER. The repater is located on the NW Side of Indianapolis on one of the Radio or TV towers in the area of 79Th and Township Line Road which is just east of my home at 79Th and Michigan Road. The repeater owner who is 'NOT THE ICE GROUP WILL TELL YOU NO" I asked and hold a GMRS License and was told "No" he did not want anyone on that repeater except his family on that repeater.End of statement!

That is for Amateur Repeaters ONLY NOT GMRS GMRS is not an Amateur Repeater or in the Amateur band.
The GMRS repeater only has a selct few on it and is a closed system if you look at the W9ICE web site under Repeaters you will see you can not click on the 462.550 repeater tab for info.
The Donation ONLY covers Ham Radio Repeaters most of witch no longer support Phone Auto Patch or codes to the repeaters.

The web sites says: "We presently operate 10 Amateur systems and 1 GMRS system in central Indiana."

And then below that is the part I quoted. I don't care about GMRS, don't want to use it, won't be using it. Really could care less about any of it.

You and Tim have the problems with it, call them up and tell to fix their syntax on the web pages. Because whatever they mean, they are not saying don't use the GMRS repeater. It says use the "repeaters" and be sure and donate to us if you regularly do.

There is no problem here,Newsalan needs to learn how to take care of matters on his own instead of pushing them on to others.I told him what to do. He does not need to be pushing issues that he can take of himself onto others when they are not our problems and we have no control over them!!!
