Are there any gmrs repeaters in the southern suburbs? Looking into getting a gmrs license, and was wondering if there are any gmrs "nets" like there are for 2mtr.

Thanks for any info provided.

:)

Wouldn't gmrs "nets" be illegal? (Unless you are having a net with your family members...)

I don't know if they would be or not. I didn't know if a bunch of operators could/would get together and just shoot the breeze like we do on 2mtrs.

I've just recently taken an interest in gmrs/frs, and am still "learning the ropes" so to speak.

:)

That was a a facetious remark.

(a) The GMRS is a land mobile radio service available to persons for
short-distance two-way communications to facilitate the activities of
licensees and their immediate family members. Each licensee manages a
system consisting of one or more stations.

Funny, yesterday I was just thinking that GMRS might be a good way to get my family interested in radios without the need to take the technician exam.

Are there any age restrictions to GMRS? My son is 8.

Also, are there any 70cm radios that allow you to broadcast on GMRS?
