One that comes to mind is "Wayside Power Fail".

The GO trains are plugged into wayside power when parked for the night. This keeps the train's electrical systems powered up without having to run the locomotive's generator.

When that power fails, the locomotive sends an alarm out over talkgroup 9 on the GO system.

Another one commonly heard is the Intrusion Alarm.

All of these are related to the train's equipment and are not part of the trackside devices that report alarms such as the Hotbox Detectors.

They report on a VHF rail channel so all trains using those tracks can hear it. Keep in mind that in most cases, other trains use the same tracks so they must report on a channel available to everybody.

HELP!

I don't know what happened, I read and programmed my 996 with ARC996, not changing anything on GO TRANSIT. Since then, I am not getting anything on the simulcast towers. I can hit the Hillsburgh tower and that seems to be okay, but only getting the Bramalea talk-group.

Here's the weird thing, if I hold on the control channel, I can see the unit displaying active talk-groups, but not getting any audio.

Am I missing something? Seems the problem is on the simulcast frequencies...

To the above poster, try what WZ1 has already mentioned (quoted below). ARC seems to mess around with the settings sometimes.

Also check the BandPlan settings (I know on a P25 system they are from the CC but check them just in case - esp if your using a Pro-96

)
If you import from RR.com via ARC it will not work, however that being said.. if you import the system from RR.com via arc and then manually edit the system once it is in the scanner it will then work. You need to change the system type from whatever it imports as to Motorola P25.
