My wife and I are visiting her family next week . Staying in mars hill. Is this area on the viper system? Any help would be appreciated. We're coming from denver.

It appears that both Mars Hill FD and PD utilize local VHF frequencies (and perhaps Madison County Sheriff channels as needed). Here is the RR page for Madison County. Mars Hill PD can be found at the bottom of the page, under Schools and Colleges (???).

Mars Hill PD and FD both utilize VHF frequencies listed in the database. Madison County EMS uses VIPER after dispatch on 155.100 (county fire/EMS). Unfortunately, VIPER isn't used much in Madison County except during major events, land searches, etc. The primary VIPER users are NCSHP G1, USFS, Mission Health EMS (which contracts as Madison County EMS as well as running Critical care transports), and MAMA medical helo.
