going to panama city beach this summer....

hello all,

i will be traveling to panama city beach in july and will be staying at the state park there for a couple of days. what are some interesting non-digital freqs (police, ems, fire) for the area. i looked at the database, and noticed that the county trs is going to digital. is it all digital? i also notice that there is a military base close by. any interesting listning there? thx in advance

I can't help you with the non-digital freqs but as for the military base there you would hit the jackpot for milair comms. Tyndall AFB now is the first base to house the new fighter, the F/A-22 Raptor. Tyndall is the training base for pilots transitioning to the Raptor before they (the pilots) go to the first operational fighter squadron in VA.

oh cool, so the freqs in the database, the county trs; there all correct? i plan on listning to aircraft, marine, and the local traffic, im hoping i can catch some off of that air base thats across the bay.

st andrews state park is where im staying.

Have not heard BAY EMS is going digital. they just spent a bunch 3 years ago to go to the 800mhz analog. Bay Medical Center is cheap and does not want to spend money. When I worked at EMS there we could not get anything. I am still surprised they went to 800 mhz. The only reason why was because the microwave system was out dated and could not be fixed anymore.

i just got home from panama city beach. had to cut the trip short due to the incoming hurricane. every single frequency and talkgroup is correct except for one of bay ems'. they have a different TAC-1, they still use the tac that is listed in the database but it appears that it has been moved to a secondary. i wrote it down to post later. one question. the "teletype" talkgroups for PC and PC beach; what exactly are those for. all i heard was units calling in licenses and plates. does the coast guard have any non-milair freqs? i saw a few CG helicoptors assisting bay ems and fire in a few water rescue. i loved it, and plan to go back.

You may want to follow the scanner laws so you don't break any scanner laws in fla. although mine comes with me all the time without me worrying about laws.

I have never seen anything for the CG. Also what is the new TG for EMS? By the way I use to work for BAY EMS 5 years ago. PCB is a fun place to visit but not to work at.

ems will me going digital first. the reason is by the time they went to the analog 800 the moto mts2000 radio was cancelled so they were forced to buy the moto XTS5000 which is digital capible and are the only xts on the system. also teletype is a DL check tag check NCIC FCIC and secondary dispatch

That is cool. When I worked there the radio situation SUCKED prior to them going to 800mhz. We would be in the day room at Station 1(which is where dispatch is) and could not hear the radio. I am just surprised that Bay Medical is going to fork up more money to change them again.

i do wanna say that bay ems is one of the most professional sounding public saftey agencies ive ever HEARD. not 1 person in the 3 days i was down there stumbled with thier speech. its an hourly occurance up here. im very looking forward to going back.

bay ems will not have to put anymore money out the have radios that have a digital flashcode in fact they are the only xts5000's and xtl5000's on the system
