Gold Cross

I live in Atlanta (Cobb County) and even though we used to have Gold Cross in our area, I don't believe they operate here anymore. I honestly have no idea what you're hearing but one possibility is that GC is using conventional frequencies for data transmission and operating voice traffic off the Palmetto 800 system that Augusta-Richmond Co Fire and many other agencies use.

Let us know if you find out.

Gold Cross EMS in Richmond County (154.2125mhz) has switched to MotoTrbo digital. The EMT's have been carrying MotoTrbo portables for awhile but they finally made the switch to digital. You should still be able to monitor Richmond Co. on EMS 2 on the Palmetto 800 TRS.

As of today the Columbia Co./Airmed (154.0025mhz) channel is still analog.

Update for Gold Cross EMS on Pal800.... as of next week all 800mhz portable radios will be removed form the ambulances. They will purchase 2 radios for their dispatch and the supervisors vehicle. Due to budget cuts, the Richmond Co. government eliminated their radio subscription. It seems that monitoring them on Pal800 EMS2 will be few and far between now. Not sure if the Columbia Co./Airmed channel will switch to MotoTrbo or not.

Another note, rumor has it that Richmond Co. will be switching to 700mhz so lets start searching for new stuff.

Communications

You would think that Richmond County would want full communication between the EMS units and the Fire Dept. I thought that was one of the big things that Homeland security has said they wanted for each agency to be able to communicate with every other agency. As usual Augusta is stepping back in the past instead of the future. As for the 700mhz change over, why spend the money on something that seems to be working just fine.

I wasn't aware that Columbia County vice/narc was using PAL800. The EMA has PAL800 radios in their command vehicle but don't have any TG's assigned specifically to Columbia County, according to the codeplug I have. If Columbia County is on PAL800 does anyone have TG info?
