This system has additional sites now up at Mt Tam, Big Rock, Bald Peak, and Sonoma. These are in addition to the one that has been at Toll Plaza.

Why do they even need repeater sites? Do they extend beyond Doyle Drive and the Waldo Tunnel? If not, most all should be line of sight.

From the District web site:

"Based in San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District operates the Golden Gate Bridge, and two public transit systems: Golden Gate Transit buses and Golden Gate Ferry. Last year, 38 million vehicles crossed the Golden Gate Bridge and over 9 million customers rode the transit systems."

Golden Gate Transit - the white, green and red buses that connect Marin and Sonoma counties to San Francisco - along with the Golden Gate Ferry, which connects the Larkspur Ferry Terminal to the San Francisco Ferry Building - are both owned by the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District.

This is curious though, because last time I was up there I didn't hear a control channel on either of the two 700 MHz P25 systems we have in the db.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know they also operate a bus system. I guess that's why the Golden Gate Bridge never became free to cross as was promised once they recuperated their building costs.

Today I checked the frequencies licensed under WQLN447 and found the following control channels:

773.38125 - System CF2 - Site 101
770.61875 - System CF2 - Site 102
773.70625 - System CF2 - Site 103

Based on this information, it appears the system will have the following site configuration:

Site 101: Mt. Tam / GGB Toll Plaza Simulcast
Site 102: Bald Peak / Big Rock Ridge Simulcast
Site 103: Sonoma Mountain

System is called ACIS: Advanced Communications and Information System.

Old thread from 2009:

http://forums.radioreference.com/sa...n/134842-golden-gate-bridge-district-p25.html

Urgent Communications article from 2009:

Golden Gate Bridge to get P25, wireless communication systems

Region 6 700 MHz channel application from June 2009:

http://www.rgn6rpc.org/700_APPS/Golden Gate Bridge District Region 6 700 MHz Application.pdf

Per that document it looks like they were only planning on two simulcast zones originally. Also don't forget at least one of the simulcast transmitters will be on Bald Peak in Contra Costa County (presumably to serve the bus routes that end up at the Richmond/El Cerrito Del Norte BART station).

[Project 25 WACN and System ID Conversion to Callsign]
WACN: 92745
System ID: CF2
Calculate = WQLN44 7
Project 25 WACN and System ID Conversion to Callsign

... which is not reliable due to any number of factors (multiple FCC licenses in the system, system deployed under STA with different regular callsign, or system manufacturer who does not follow the Motorola-suggested DRAFT conversion protocol).

Control channels for sites 101 and 103 have changed. Site 101 has a much stronger signal than before, leading me to believe that the Mt. Tam site is now online. Current control channels are as follows:

Site 101 - 771.15625
Site 102 - 770.61875
Site 103 - 770.00625

Martin, I replied to your private email, but for other folks here the ONLY thing I'm picking up (realizing my location from many other posts) is what's listed as Site 102 - 770.61875.

What I hear is a VERY LOUD RAT-A-TAT-TAT and NO response at all from pro96com on this signal. I believe it is one of those TEST Signals, the same as GGNRA was putting out for awhile. Wayne explained that instead of driving around doing voice radio checks, this signal is picked by mobile tech receivers and automatically logged for signal strength at moving Locations.

I will check it every couple of days to look for a true CC.

Dave
PS.... I have a request I will post in the GGNRA thread if anybody can help !! Thanks

Interesting. The system is no longer putting out control channels. Instead, I have the following:

Site 101 - test signal on 773.38125
Site 102 - test signal on 770.61875
Site 103 - nothing detected

Site 102 now putting out CC but not reporting any other CHLs ALSO site 101 doing the same, Both show neighbors.Still must be test mode but now CC is going out.

Both CC are VERY STRONG CC and considering my location I would have say both are coming from Tam

Thanks Dave! I figure we'll just leave the database as is until the system is more developed. That way all possible frequencies are listed in case they change the control channels again.

However, I've been told by someone that a couple of you know who, that GGB Patrol officers DON'T have peace officer status as GGB is transportation district, they are basically like GGB Security officers and rely on CHP for peace officer duties.

But then, that would call into question BART as a transportation district, BART PD are peace officers, so just reporting what I was told, maybe someone knows for sure?
