To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

What's a good antenna and amp that I can use for my Wouxun KG-UVD1P? I was looking at Diamond SRH77CA but is there anything better? I pretty much want the best antenna out there so I can grab and send as good as a handheld will get. Keep in mind, it needs to fit the connector (I believe it's an SMA female that is on the radio so the antenna needs to be SMA male).

The addition of an amplifier typically means the HT isn't as portable as the HT alone. It changes from a 'hand-held' to something like a 'bag-portable' type radio, or 'semi-portable'? Batteries for power, cabling, etc, that sort of thingy. If you're going to do that, then why not use a 'mobile' antenna with some sort of counterpoise? There would definitely be some advantage to a mobile antenna rather than a typical 'hand-held' antenna.
For instance, I hung a mobile antenna with a piece of string from a hook on the ceiling of my porch, and used a short'ish adaptor cable for that SO-239/SMA conversion to the HT. (Just fit so that the HT would sit on a table.) The counterpoise is a alligator clip with about 19 - 20 inches of wire attached, all clipped to the connector shield on the antenna.
The difference in performance was huge! Able to hit several repeaters that weren't possible with just the 'duck' on the HT. No amplifier was necessary, 5 watts was plenty. I know that's not what you probably had in mind, but it works. It shouldn't be all that difficult to adapt to a 'portable'/'walk around' type system.

(The antenna is a dual band 2 meter/70 cm mobile antenna.)

The antenna connector on the radio you're talking about is an SMA male, same as is used on Motorola radios but opposite of what is used on Icom, Kenwood, etc. You need an antenna with an SMA female connector. I believe that the Diamond antenna you mention will have the wrong SMA connector for the Wouxun portable. Also, from what I read on the comment boards for that antenna, that it won't work any better than the antenna that is furnished with the radio.

You're the best. Luckily they make a model with the SMA female that says that it's for wouxuns so I contacted them about this before they shipped it. Thanks for bringing that to my attention.
