As the title states I have a radio shack pro-94 and am looking for a handheld scanner antenna with BNC connection that does a good job at UHF, mostly in the 800MHz range to listen to trunked frequencies and an ok job in the VHF range to listen to conventional frequencies. I have notices that the stock antenna is much better at picking up clear VHF frequencies and does an ok/poor job of picking up UHF frequencies (comes in with lots of static and crackling). I would also like to find a good mobile magnetic mount VHF antenna as all of the frequencies I listen to in the car are within this range. It needs to have a fairly long cable, my CB antenna has a 17' cable that works nicely, and also a BNC connector would be nice as most adapter tend to lose signal strength. Any advice and recommendations are welcome.
Thanks in advance!!!

800 MHz doesn't carry quite as far as 150, so be sure that this isn't your problem (that you're just too far from the system you're trying to monitor), but the Radio Shack 800 MHz antenna is better at 800 MHz than the one supplied with the scanner.

The Larsen 2/70 or 150/450/800 are good for mobile use. They're NMO mount, and you can get a magnetic mount for NMO.

Not enough to make any difference. (Someone recently posted results of measurements, showing that the loss was somewhere between 0 and the minimum his test equipment could detect, which was very low.)

Thanks for the quick replies guys. I think I will be trying out the RS 800MHz antenna and see how the Larsen 150/450/800 does. Jerry, or anyone that knows, can you give me some info on the 94 overloading on 800MHz? Does this refer to bad reception or the inability of the unit to follow all conversations and talk groups?
Thanks,

-Clayton
