good base RR scanner?

i think im jus going to go the base route. and ill mount it in my car. whats a good scanner thats a base one for my truck? and also, whats a good antenna? thanks

For now just about any scanner will do as rail traffic is almost all analog conventional. If you get a 100 channel unit you can program the entire railroad assigned freqs in channel order.

Eventually railroads will likely go to digital modes but that is a ways off.

The mag mount antenna from Radio Shack does a good job. It costs around thirty bucks.

PRO-2055 is excellent

The PRO-2055 is excellent also.
It has VERY loud and clear audio which is great for mobile use.
It also does all 3 trunking systems which will make usefull for many other things besides rail.

They are still on sale for $149...... :)
