Had a quick scan before bedtime (daylight saving came off so bit late!) - caught GB Great Barrier Island quite easily on 272kHz but there was someone underneath - waited for the idents to separate and it was LHI Lord Howe Island up in the northern Tasman 1107miles - this was 2215local/1015UTC. So went looking for Norfolk Island on 260kHz and he was booming in, 893miles.Went looking for my old favourite Port MacQuarie on 395kHz and he was there too, 1412miles and there was someone underneath him too, MER Merimbula not quite so far, 1409miles. the LF band is certainly looking up, although Norfolk is a high power oceanic NDB so that not such a great catch.
Tonight I'll try for the Isle of PInes, south of Noumea, now that should be a catch!
