Anyone have a good recommendation for a good, detailed metro area map that has clear distinctions for the different suburb boundaries as well as showing unincorporated areas in the metro area? It would be useful for determining what agencies might be involved for various situations. Plus, with how random some of the city boundaries are in this area (take a look at Centennial), it would be nice to know what locations are actually in what jurisdiction.

Craig, I use Mapsco 800 Lincoln and while they have good products it's still constant challenge because many fire districts do not follow city boundaries and the printed versions are always behind because of the growth of areas like Parker and Centennial and Erie just to name a few.

The other big advantage of Mapsco is many of the CAD map grids given during dispatch correspond with the mapsco grids.

The Rand McNally Denver Region printed version is a reasonable source for street locations, county/city boundaries, and Forest Service boundaries along the front range. It's not the ideal for definate service locations, but at about $35, there is one in the work truck and office, they are used daily...Dave

Macvan makes some outstanding maps. They're produced in Colorado Springs, and the El Paso County maps is the semi-official map of just about every agency down here. I carry a copy of the Denver map with me for my trips up there.

I personally like the Mapsco better than the Rand McNally. Maybe it's the way they show streets with a set of two lines rather than one!

Jim - what agencies use those for CAD locations? None of the fire departments I listen to correspond to Mapsco grids.

Boulder county uses Mapsco grids for a few of the agencies in Boulder County. I know for sure in Hygiene's district, but that information is sent out over digitals.
