so I was looking at some ideas for scanners. I was looking at a unification pager, which I thought was a really good compact little scanner, which gives good quality and audio from what I’ve seen on YouTube videos but also what other scanners would anyone suggest that is similar to the Unication pager if not, maybe better I would appreciate some insight and will be looking out for any replies thank you all so much for taking the time for suggesting.

The Unication is a great unit as long as you understand what it does do and what it does not do. I have two and for me, at home it's hard to imagine I'd ever want anything else for the simulcast system I monitor, and in the immediate area when I travel. I also have a BCD 536 for p25 analog conventional and a 30 year old Relm scanner for other analog duties while at home.

As stated above, what do you want to hear, what specific services and frequencies?. Trunk or non-trunked? There are a mutitude of unidens radios might work. You may not need an sds100. Avoid Whistler since they are probably out if business.
Also as stated the Unications are really not full fledged scanners and might be limited as far as frequency range and scanning options unless you will be concentrating on one system. Based on need you might be happy with a unit from about $100 to $700. More information needed and do not overbuy unless money is not a problem

And verify whether or not what your listening to will go encrypted soon. No scanner will touch that.
