Good VHF/UHF BNC antennas?

Hello all, I was given some old vhf and uhf single band handhelds (Realistic HTX-202/404). Both use BNC connectors, so I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for good single band BNC antennas? Also, could I use the telescopic antenna that comes with Uniden scanners on one of the handhelds?

Smiley Antenna is a source. Scroll to the bottom of that link and also look page at 2. You could even use a dual band antenna on a single band radio. An example is the Diamond Antenna RH77CA which has a BNC connector. Then you could just swap one antenna between radios.

Also, I would not use the telescopic antenna that comes with a Uniden scanner to TX.

I second the recommendation for Smiley. I had the same RS 2 meter and 440 HT's. Used Smiley antennas. The antennas have outlasted the the radios. Smiley antennas are modular and can be ordered with screw on BNC, SMA etc connectors. I still use the antennas, but ordered SMA bases for them to use with Yaesu monobanders. They also make telescoping whips.

Those HT's have an internal button cell to maintains memory. It fails, but can be replaced. There are RR threads discussing this,
