I saw earlier today that James MacArthur, Danno of Hawaii Five-0 fame, passed away at age 72. He was the adopted son of playright Charles MacArthur and Helen Hayes, the "First Lady of the Theater."

He made a good second banana to Jack Lord for nearly 20 years and, because of syndication and another 20 years of reruns, MacArthur never had to work another day in his life. While I didn't read his obit, I believe he settled permanently in Hawaii, just like Lord did. I don't recall seeing him in any TV, motion picture or theatrical production after H50 went off the air.

So, for old times' sake: BOOK 'EM DANNO!:D

I really like the original Hawaii Five-0 much better than the newer series. It just isn't the same without Jack Lord and James MacArthur. Likewise, those guys knew how to look cool in custom tailored suits.

I agree wholeheartedly. The original series was great. I grew up watching it with the fam and still watch it in syndication whenever I see it on [and via some online streaming services].

Of course, the girls in bikinis always made it appealing.

I didn't care for Chin Ho very much, but the rest of the guys were pretty cool. Dan-O was about as cool as Chin, but Steve, Kono and Ben were sharp guys.

The episodes with Chicken [Gavin Macleod] in them were always interesting, as were the ones with Wo Fat.

Danny wont' need patched through to McGarrett anymore.
